Free At Last - Dad is Home!
Dad left Heartland this morning and headed for church. This time he is "free at last," he said. (Ironically today's message title at church was "I am free".) After church, we brought dad home for good! What a feeling that is to have he and mom here in their home again. As you can see from the picture, he is already comfy and right at home - sound asleep in this picture. He enjoyed a ham sandwich (compliments of his brother Calvin who sent a ham and homemade pie over). Right now though, he and mom are sounds asleep, nothing like a Sunday afternoon nap! He said he can't believe how good everything looks here and how happy he is to be here. We've got his meds all setup and that's a much easier task than when he was home before. Just morning pills & evening pills. His Home Health nurse is coming tomorrow afternoon. . . they just called to tell us. . . and Thursday he will see his doctor at their office. Friday we will take him to the Wellness Center for an Outpatient Physical Therapy evaluation and get a schedule for that. He will also have Occupational Therapy here at home to assist him with therapy that involve his activities of daily living - like grooming, hygiene, eating, etc. Once our uncle Tommy finishes their new handicap accessible bathroom, I know that will really be a huge help in his bathing & grooming. For now, we'll have the assistance of a home health aide thru out the week to assist with those tasks. Mom sees her surgeon on Wednesday and hopefully will be released to do more things for herself and dad. . . she looks marvelous now. She is almost herself again! What a great great day it is for the Kisner family - there truly is no place like home! We will continue to keep you all posted through out dads journey - because we still believe he will walk again one day, but until then we are praising and thanking God for both mom & dad and the health that does remain within them!
