Under the Weather for Turkey Day - But Better Now!

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. . . mom and dad woke up with a bad stomach ache and ended up staying home under the covers. Dad had it worse than mom - he threw up twice and had some loose bowels, but thankfully it only lasted 24hours! Today we gave him a shower and got him in his recliner to watch tv for the day and I think he seemed completely himself again. Today mom's sister Patty stopped by to visit from Baltimore with her daughter and grandbabies. They enjoyed the visit alot! Mom's other sister Marie also came with them. We are still praying for a miracle for our Uncle Charles (mom's sister Nora's husband). His cancer is really taking a toll on him - he is going thru some chemo, but his body is so very weak and they need a miracle to beat this terrible disease. We all know God is still in the miracle business so we never stop asking or believing for Dad and Uncle Charles to beat their diseases and be a living testimony to Gods healing hands.

Looks like dad will get out for church in the morning - it's what he looks forward to all week long! He loves his job as greeter at The Living Room! Love to all!

Keeping Warm Inside!

With all this cold weather - dad is trying to stay warm on the inside! He doesn't like to get out in this bitter weather. But he never misses church - so we are looking forward to getting him out on Sunday for that. We just gave him a shower and he is shaving right now. . . he and mom have their #12 WVU t-shirts on for their nephew Nate Sowers - who will be playing at noon today in the WVU game against Louisville. We are sure hoping for a great game! My in-laws went to Louisville for the game! Dad and mom are feeling great and send all their love and blessings to all! We still pray daily for a miracle healing on dad's left side. . . never stop believing and praying with us!

Love to All!

Alls Wells on the Homefront!

Hello out there - things have been so hectic lately that I haven't had much time to post. But rest assured dad is doing well and happy! He got out to church Sunday, despite the cold weather. He is still looking and feeling good. His spirits remain high and he remains positive. We are not seeing and more progress in his mobility on his left side, but dad makes the most of what he has and has become rested in his current situation, yet still hopeful that God could heal him some day. We do his showers usually Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays and that is always fun. He feels so relaxed and good when he finishes. With the weather being so cold - there a not a lot of opportunities to get outside, but many of you are stopping in to visit and that is good company for him. His goal is to stay "cold & illness" free this winter because that cold he had in early September was so hard on him. Other than the usual "sore bottom" from laying/sitting all the time, dad is overall great! His recent blood draw was pretty much in the perfect range - so we repeat that in a week and half. Mom is also doing well - a spit fire for sure! Our Uncle Charles is still putting up a great fight in his battle with cancer and we remain prayerful that God will help him beat this thing once and for all.

Mid Week Trip!

Yesterday I took dad and mom out for a couple of appointments. It was nice to get out in the middle of the week like that with dad. We had to go have a blood test for dad's INR at the McCormack Center over on the City Hospital campus. After that, I took mom and dad to Berkeley Family for their flu shots. . . and their grand daughter Rachel gave them the shots (She is a nurse there!). Dad has been feeling so good. Today he got a shower and is in his recliner for the day to enjoy his programs on tv. Mom was headed to workout at the Wellness Center and grocery store. Last night my brother David brought his black bear that he killed to show dad. . . he pulled up right in front of the window where dad sleeps and shined a light on it so dad could see! We took some Dairy Queen to them after that and got him ready for bed. If your ever in the neighborhood - please stop by and see them. With the weather much cooler now, dad doesn't get to sit out front now. But he sure enjoys his visits with all his buddies (and even you Mark Rogers! ha ha - Mark stops in to see dad all the time and dad loves giving him a hard time - just like the good ole days when dad worked for Mark).

Have a blessed week!

Life is Good

Hello everyone. . . not a whole lot to update you on, but a great big thanks to those of you who joined with us in prayer for my uncle Charles (mom's sister's husband). He is feeling stronger and was able to go thru the first lo-dose round of chemo Friday. Mom went to see him in recovery and she said he looked good and was eating a little. This made dad very happy - he had a very emotional week thinking of Uncle Charles and his battle. Dad went to church yesterday and did well. He is looking great these days. We will get out this week on Wednesday for his next blood draw, but with the weather getting colder it's harder to get out and go places and he doesn't like to sit outside now that the weather is changing. Thanks for checking in on us - we continue to pray for healing in dad's body and we hope that you will pray that with us too!

Prayers for Our Uncle Charles

Hey Everyone. . . all is well on the homefront with dad and mom. Dad is doing pretty well. He hasn't gotten out much this week, other than the shower & bathroom because he has a small sore spot on his "bum" that we are treating and watching closely. That makes it a little uncomfortable to stay in his chair for long period of time. But overall, he is doing well. The past week has been especially hard on dad emotionally because his brother - n - law, Charles Porterfield is very sick. Uncle Charles has cancer and its really taking a toll on his body. Dad is having a really difficult time knowing this - Uncle Charles came to dad & mom's anniversary party this summer, but dad hasn't seen him since. We ask all of our other family and friends to join with ours in praying for this very special man. He is such an awesome man and I pray that God will give him the strength he needs to fight this latest attack on his body. I pray that you give his family - Aunt Nora, Becky, Kelly, Doug & Mark the strength they need to get thru this very difficult time. We serve an awesome God and I know that he hears our prayers. We love you Uncle Charles!

Good week!

It's been a good week overall. Dad is doing fine. He was a very happy camper after today's big WVU win over UConn. We gave him a shower and got him in his recliner just in time for kickoff. Mom is doing well too. She's got so much energy and love - dad is one lucky lady to such a dedicated woman beside him to care for him. It's hard to believe it's already November. Time flies. Dad still is doing his arm exercises at home and we still are believing for more progress in his left side. . . thanks for all of you who continue to pray and believe with us. Dad has the most amazing spirit these days. He laughs all the time - he always has a funny thing to say. He is so sweet and so aware of everything. Even though dad has lost so much, he still has so much more than many others. We have a lot to be thankful for!
