ANOTHER UPDATE • 9PM

Dad has had the procedure done to place the basket in the big vein that carries the blood up to the heart - which will protect against future clots. Thank you God for making that happening so quickly. We had to make a difficult decision tonight and that was whether to wait and let the clots clear on their own which would be a long and dangerous process - because they could break off and go to the heart, or cause distress to his heart because of how hard it will work and that could cause pulmonary hypertension - which is not good. OR we could allow them to begin giving him a low dose of blood thinners to help dissolve the clots. The big concern there is that due to his previous bleed on the brain - they are concerned the bleed could happen again and cause further brain damage, or worse. The neurologists saw him today and felt it was safe to take this approach due to how much his previous bleed had healed and that it had been almost 3 weeks since the stroke. The latter is the quickest way to get dad out of immediate danger, but comes with many risks too. Whew - what a decision. But Dad comfortably lifted his hand to the doctor and said - "doc, I'm in your hands. . . I trust you guys - you are the specialists." So, as I write this, dad is in the process of getting into a room, and having the IV drip of blood thinners begin. They will monitor his blood every 4 hours to make sure the blood is not thinning too much - and be able to react if needed. Friends and family - we just have to let God step in here as we trust these physicians to make the necessary steps to do what Dad needs. Only God knows what the outcome is, but we trust Him and ask Him to carry us thru. We will keep vigil until we can feel Dad is out of the woods. Prayers for mom are appreciated, this has been a very hard day on her.

Our Abba Father,
We lift up the entire Kisner family to you right now. We ask that your hedge of protection surround Shug and his team of doctors right now. Father, let the thinner attack the clots. Protect his brain. Lord, we lift up Mom Kisner. In the name of Jesus, we ask that you give her a peace that surpasses understanding even now as she sits with Shug. Encourage and strengthen the rest of the family. We give you our praise and honor for everything you have already done. We thank you for letting us learn from Shug's example and ask that you allow him to see Your building through to it's completion. May everything that is said and done continue to bring You glory.

In Your Heavenly Name,
Heather and the rest of the Johnson Zoo

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and MY DELIVERER; my God is my rock, in whom I take REFUGE. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2

It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore WE DO NOT LOSE HEART. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:13-16

Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
who forgives all your sins
and HEALS ALL YOUR DISEASES,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion. Psalm 103:1-4

Dear Father; we ask for wisdom for Shug's doctors in treating him. We ask for strength for his family as they go through this time, peace that can only come from You Lord. Help them to get the physical rest that they need, let their minds rest and to know that You are totally in control. We all miss Shug so much at TLR, his smiling face and welcoming hand shake as we come through the doors. His is a very special and very important ministry and none of the rest of us have shoes big enough to fill that ministry although David is doing an admirable job of it.
We continue to pray for all of the Kisner family. God bless all of you, Dick and Joan Ernst

Mary Beth and ALL of the Kisner Family, This daily blog has not only been a great source of information on Shug, and anyone that has ever known or cared about him can read and check up on him, but it has also reminded us daily to pray, and pray in a most sincere and spectacular way that we become closer and more intimate w/the father. Just another way that Shug is helping minister, even through sickness. I as well as my family will continue to pray for Shug and the whole family and lift them and stregthen them. GOD is in control here, and the most important person knows this...Shug. What abounding faith.
